Hong Kong’s Centre for Meals Security (CFS) of the Meals and Environmental Hygiene Division introduced that poultry exports from areas within the US, Japan and Poland have been suspended because of the presence of avian influenza. CFS issued the suspension as a way to defend public well being in Hong Kong.

Particularly, CFS suspended poultry exports from Kagoshima Prefecture in Japan, the Iławski District of Warmińsko-Mazurskie Area and Brzeski District of Opolskie Area in Poland, and Gage County, Nebraska in the US.

A CFS spokesperson mentioned that in response to the Census and Statistics Division, Hong Kong imported about 1,990 tonnes of frozen poultry meat and about 281.33 million poultry eggs from Japan, about 3,110 tonnes of frozen poultry meat from Poland, and about 37,770 tonnes of chilled and frozen poultry meat and about 83.84 million poultry eggs from the US final 12 months.

“The CFS has contacted the Japanese, Polish and American authorities over the problems and can carefully monitor data issued by the WOAH and the related authorities on the avian influenza outbreaks,” the spokesperson mentioned. “Applicable motion will likely be taken in response to the event of the state of affairs.”
