On Dec 28, 2022 a feminine Cook dinner’s Petrel was discovered alive (however grounded) at 2110 Rowland Road, Port Coquitlam. The hen was found by a member of the general public and brought to the Wildlife Rescue Affiliation of BC. Upon receipt of the hen, they instantly noticed that it was severely emaciated. Regardless of their finest efforts, the hen’s situation failed to enhance and the hen was humanely euthanized on Dec thirty first.

After the hen was euthanized, it was transported to the Canadian Wildlife Service workplace in Delta. At a later level, it was necropsied by a Veterinarian from the BC Ministry of Agriculture and Meals, Animal Well being Centre on the Beatty Museum. The necropsy decided the intercourse (feminine) and that there was no proof of trauma. It’s believed that the hen’s grounding was resulting from its excessive emaciation/weakened situation. After the Veterinarian completed the necropsy, the hen was despatched to the Collections Curator, Cowan Tetrapod Assortment, UBC Beaty Biodiversity Museum.

That is the second confirmed photographed file for BC. The opposite hen hit a window in Lillooet on Dec 4, 2007.
